Clann Na nGael In Croke Park

Clann na nGael in Croke Park
Today was a memorable day for our u12 boys as they were invited to play in Croke Park!
Many a young footballers dream, the boys got to play on the pitch against Shannon Gaels, Ballydonoghue and Fr. Sheehy’s, which was followed by a tour of the museum
It was great to see their names up on the big screen in Croker for the first, and hopefully not the last time we’ll see them up there
We would like to extend a massive thank you to our young whistler on the day, Ryan Daly who travelled to Dublin to ref the games
Also a huge thank you to the coaches and parents who travelled up and to all who made this day out happen. What an amazing opportunity

U14s First Game Of League Season

Our under 14s played a great game against Tadhg MacCarthaigh this morning in their first league game of the season.
The result wasn’t in their favour but onwards and upwards.

Junior Ladies Win County League Title 2023

Clann na nGael 3-05, Ballinhassig 1-09

The junior ladies travelled to Ballinhassig last Saturday to play the home team in the County League (Division 6) final. The match started in an exciting fashion with Clann na nGael taking an early lead which they gradually built on, scoring 3 goals in the process. On the stroke of half time Ballinhassig were awarded a penalty which Aisling Connolly brilliantly saved but the home team scored the rebound, leaving the half time score 3-2 to 1-3. As expected, Ballinhassig started the second half strongly but the Scorchers stood firm and added on 2 late points to win the match. On the day there were 17 heroes on the panel who played with great heart and determination.

Great credit is due to all the players and mentors (Brian McCarthy, Fiona Coakley and Martin O’Driscoll) who represented the Scorchers jersey with such distinction.

Team: Aisling Connolly, Helen O’Farrell, Niamh McCarthy, Tanya Murnane Marron, Catriona Tobin, Maire O’Driscoll, Saoirse Connolly (Captain), Kathlyn McCarthy, Grainne McCarthy (0-1), Rachel O’Donovan Jnr, Roisin O’Driscoll, Marina Connolly, Rachel O’Donovan Snr (0-1), Lorraine O’Neill (3-3), Eabha Collins, Clodagh Daly, Isabel Hurley

Victorious U15 West Cork Team

Victorious U15 West Cork team who won the U15 Cup Final in Banteer 4G pitch on Sunday last.
The West Cork girls were down by 5 points late on and managed to pull it out of the fire to win by the narrowest of margins.
Well done to the girls and our own Brian McCarthy, who is manager/coach of the team!
